Hi, All Having finished my large scale Hien, had finally a chance to spray some paint here. IJA Green from Tamiya, here and there lightened with Tamiya Dark Yellow. Then I applied the markings and stencils, used Montex and DIY masks. What I was afraid the most were the red stencils on the wings, which I … Continue reading In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-100-I Koh Type 5 Fighter | Hasegawa 1:48 Part 3 – painting

In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien | ST 28 Hasegawa 1:32 Part 8 – almost done
Hi, All Well, it seems that I'm now on the home straight - only few touch-ups here and there required, and the antennas (I really hate this part). I have to look in my wife's closet - hope she has some unnecessary black tights... The landing gear fits just perfect. Added only the piping, and the side … Continue reading In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien | ST 28 Hasegawa 1:32 Part 8 – almost done
In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien | ST 28 Hasegawa 1:32 Part 7 – decalled
Hi All, A quick update on large scale Hien: stencils, "mysterious device" in place of the Venturi tube and QB exhausts added - it seems, that there's a chance to have it done by the end of the year... Stay tuned, best regards Hubert
In the workshop: Arsenal VG.36 C1 | Azur 1:48 – Part 8: painted and decalled
Hi All Arsenal received the decals, they went smooth and nice, with a little help of set and sol from Modelmaster. Pretty happy with the result, however the blue shade on the fin is slightly different than that on the roundels - but I will leave it as it is. Next will be wash and weathering … Continue reading In the workshop: Arsenal VG.36 C1 | Azur 1:48 – Part 8: painted and decalled
In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-100-I Koh Type 5 Fighter | Hasegawa 1:48 Part 2 – almost ready for painting
Hi All, Ki-100 almost assembled and ready for painting. The only thing remaining is filling and sanding smooth the joint between the canopy and fuselage (fit is not perfect). Stay tuned, best regards Hubert
In the workshop: Arsenal VG.36 C1 | Azur 1:48 – Part 6: camo painting
Hi All, Basic paint-job is done. I think, the idea worked well, of course - some corrections will be necessary and I'm going to add some life to that camo with slightly lighter and darker shades of the basic colours, but overall that's what I was hoping to see. First colour masked: And the camo after … Continue reading In the workshop: Arsenal VG.36 C1 | Azur 1:48 – Part 6: camo painting
In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien | ST 28 Hasegawa 1:32 Part 6 – lights
Moving forward, have installed the position lights (these will be painted with Vallejo clear paints), the reflector housing (fit is absolutely perfect, no glue required), corrected the weathering on the tail, the upper surfaces of ailerons and horizontal tail have been painted with well diluted IJA Green - it's a remnant of the original camouflage of … Continue reading In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien | ST 28 Hasegawa 1:32 Part 6 – lights
In the workshop: Arsenal VG.36 C1 | Azur 1:48 – Part 5: painting
Hi All, With the inlet of air to the oil cooler installed, I started painting. First went Light Blue from Tamiya, thinned with Mr. Hobby Leveling Thinner - this combination works perfectly. This will be varied with lighter shades. Now will have to prepare masks for the camo, which is quite complex... Best regards Hubert
In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-100-I Koh Type 5 Fighter | Hasegawa 1:48 -surprised?
Hi All, Having completed two Swallows, started another one in a larger scale, I thought that the family wouldn't be complete without Ki-100. So here it is - started some time ago (in June as far as I remember) and stalled due to decision to fit the resin cockpit from Aires in. Unfortunately, it is not … Continue reading In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-100-I Koh Type 5 Fighter | Hasegawa 1:48 -surprised?
In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien | ST 28 Hasegawa 1:32 Part 5 – weathering
Hi All, Have just started to apply some weathering. First went a clear cote (Sidolux, a Polish Future), then wash (Deep Grey Panel Liner) and pigments (Gunmetal and Smoke from AK) were applied. This gives a shading effect, probably a little too strong in some places - but that can be easily fixed. Stay tuned 🙂 Best … Continue reading In the workshop: Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien | ST 28 Hasegawa 1:32 Part 5 – weathering
